At 92 feet high, with a trunk circumference of 226 inches and a crown spread of 65 feet this Champion magnolia grandiflora wasdrawn in front of the Bidwell Mansion in Chico. This piece carries the full monumental weight of that encounter.
Rendered in vertical lines with ballpoint, and Micron pen on mixed media paper, each mark reflects the 100+ hours spent observing this Champion Tree both in life and later from original photographs in an outdoor studio from photos I took on-site.
18" × 24".
